Garhouse Photos does not and will not use generative AI in the creation, editing, or post-processing of images, and I will take all possible steps to prevent generative AI from using my photos to train its models.
The reasons for this are:
- Generative AI is often trained on artist’s hard work without their knowledge or consent. I will not support or endorse theft from artists and creatives.
- The damage AI datacentres cause to the environment and the economy is not justified by the end results. Traditional photography and editing skills and tools can produce superior results to generative AI, without the outrageous consumption of resources required by AI infrastructure. I will not be party to destroying the natural world or driving up the price of important resources for the sake of my own convenience.
- AI “art” looks shit.
What does this mean for you? If you hire me, the photos I produce for you will be yours. They won’t be stored on a cloud storage system that will scrape them to learn off (so no Adobe cloud!). And the moments we capture will be your moments, presented authentically and produced ethically. You might not get your photos as quickly as with an AI workflow, but I promise it is worth the wait!
